In middle years basketball the season finished last week with the YQS girls upending LVS and YQS A losing a tough game to LVS. that sets up semi final games for this week. The YQS girls finished with a record of 3-1-1 securing 2nd place a date with LVS in the semis on Wednesday. In the boys standings YQS A finished first with a 9-1 record while YQS B finished 4th with a record of 6-4. Both YQS boys teams will battle each other on Thursday to see who represents YQS in the final. The YQS grade 8 boys also competed in a tournament on Friday in MacGregor where they won the B side final. Great job boys. Good luck in playoffs YQS. Report by Paige and Logan.

Action this week it was a all YQS matchup as the boys teams played each other on Wednesday. Both teams battled hard with YQS A coming out with the win 34-27. YQS B bounced back with a big win against EAMS A on Thursday. Final score was 62-35. The YQS girls will begin their season after the break as their game against OVS was cancelled on Wednesday. It was a great season of badminton here at YQS. thanks to all the coaches and supervisors that gave up their time to work with our students. The season ended last night with YQS finishing in second place in Grade 7, Grade 8 and overall. Along with a big grade 7 girls doubles title YQS had some other great results: 3rd and 4th in boys singles, 2nd in girls singles, 3rd and 4th in boys doubles, and 2nd and 4th in mixed. In Grade 8 YQS finished 3rd in boys singles, 3rd and 4th in grils singles, 3rd and 4th in boys doubles, and 2nd and 4th in mixed. Great season badminton team.
Congratulations to Logan C., Logan R., Logan B., Tyler, Grady, Garrett, Nigel, Suleiman, Akash for amking the YQS Grade 7 badminton team. Making the girls team were Paige M., Paige S., Maddie, Shae, Alex, Lenna, Calista, Teaghen, and Naomi. Looking forward to a great badminton season here at YQS.
In boys basketball action last night YQS A travelled to EAMS B where they had a good game but came up short losing 41-36. YQS B hosted OVS and at times were up in the game but couldn't hold on for the victory losing 41-31. Next games are next Monday when YQS faces YQS. Report by Connor.
In girls basketball action last night YQS worked hard and had an excellent 2nd half against a tough LVS team. They outscored LVS in the 2nd half 14-8, but their slow start was too much to overcome losing the game 32-14. Girls finished in 2nd place heading into semi-finals next Wednesday against EAMS here at YQS. Note that the game time is 5:00 after the boys game. Great job girls!. Report by Kiera.
In girls basketball action last Wednesday, YQS played EAMS B. the game turned out to be a nail biter with YQS coming on strong in the final quarter pulling ahead and finishing 29-23. Excellent passing and teamwork Rajah. Great finish to a close game. Way to go girls! Report by Kiera.
In boys basketball news todays game (January 28th) YQS A vs. YQS B is cancelled and rescheduled for Monday, February 10th at 4:00. January 16th game EAMS B at YQS B is rescheduled for Tuesday, February 11th at 4:00. In basketball action last week YQS A hosted EAMS B and came out on top 28-23 while YQS B traveled to EAMS A and came up short by only a few baskets. YQS B also hosted YQS A last Thursday with YQS A coming out on top of this all YQS matchup. Reminder that there is a practice tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3:30 till 5:00. Report by Connor
