In girls basketball action on Wednesday YQS came out strong against EAMS B. They showed great leadership, communication and teamwork which resulted in a 31-9 win. the girls are heading to the second half with a record of 2-1. Next practice is on Monday from 3:30 till 5:00. In boys basketball action on Wednesday YQS A travelled to LVS. YQS came out slow but picked up the win with a strong defensive effort. final score was 28-17. That was the first YQS win in LVs in 5 years. Great job boys. YQS B had their game cancelled on Thursday and will be rescheduled for February. The YQS grade 7 boys team will play LVS tonight at LVS. In boys basketball action last night YQS A hosted EAMS A. the boys played hard with strong rebounding leading from start to finish. Final score was 36-28. The girls hosted EAMS A as well last night. Girls basketball at YQS is ready to go with YQS having one team in the division league. The team has a strong veteran presence with many returning Grade 8 girls along with some energetic Grade 7's. We are looking forward to an exciting season. They open their season next Wednesday by travelling to LVS. Check your schedules for practice and game times. Good luck girls.
The boys basketball season is set to begin tonight here at YQS with YQS B team hosting EAMS A. Due to the overwhelming interest this year YQS will field 3 boys teams. YQS A and YQS B will compete in the division league. the Grade 7 basketball team will play 4 exhibition games against MacGregor and LVS Grade 7's as well as travelling to a tournament in February. Please check your schedules for upcoming practices and games. Good luck boys.
Basketball season is just around the corner and practices have begun here at YQS. The girls tryouts will be Tuesday morning and Thursday after school and the boys practices will be Tuesday after school 3:30 till 5:00, and Thursday morning 7:45 till 8:30. Talk to your coaches, Mrs. Shwaluk, Mrs. Wall, Mr. Moar, Mr. Taylor and Mr. Eastland if you can't make a tryout date.
In volleyball action on Friday the Grade 8 girls travelled to MacGregor to participate in a tournament. They had a great night making it all the way to the finals. They played super hard but lost the first set, came back to win the second, but then lost a very close third set 15-10. The girls showed great sportsmanship throughout the whole tournament and worked very hard. Great job girls! Report by Kiera.

YQS A played a great game losing the first set, wining the second, but dropped a close third set 26-24. YQS B took the first set, but then lost the next two sets. YQS B hosts LVS tonight. On Tuesday YQS A hosted EAMS A losing the first set 25-9, winning the second 25-22 and losing an exciting third set 29-27. On weds YQS A hosted EAMS B.
